Bamburgh Croquet Club runs regular coaching courses for beginners and intermediate players.  It also runs courses for those who are interested in the game but are not sure if it is for them.  The annual LEARN-TO-PLAY course is an ideal way to sample what croquet is all about and to learn a new skill.  Here are some interesting facts about croquet …

  • Croquet is a game of strategy and skill
  • Women and men play on equal terms
  • People of all ages and abilities can compete
  • It is a healthy outdoor sport
  • You can play socially at the regular club sessions, or competitively - the choice is yours
  • Above all, it is a social game at whatever level you play

The Learn-to-Play course lasts for five weeks and comprises five two-hour sessions on Saturday mornings, from 10:00am to 12 noon.  Participants are also welcome to attend club sessions during the course where they will be made very welcome to try out their new skills.  At the end of the course, participants can decide whether they wish to carry on and become club members, or decide perhaps that croquet is not their game.   The course fee of £10 is refundable against the first year subscription if a participant on the course decides to join the club.

This year, 2019, the course begins on Saturday, 27th April.  All kit is provided - all you need is a pair of flat shoes and a have-a-go attitude (whites are definitely not required!)  The course will cover both skill development in playing shots, and the tactics involved to help your playing advantage.
